Hotel dependent on portals
Well booked, but through other people's channels. The goal is a direct mention with your own site as the source.
Few places in Austria involve as much upfront research as Salzburg tourism. That research is shifting from the search engine into the chatbot, and in several languages at once.
Market
Salzburg has a winter and a summer season, plus year-round city tourism and an events calendar that generates questions. For measurement that means a question set in February returns different results from one in July, and that is the market rather than noise.
Then there is language. Questions arrive in German, English and, depending on your source markets, in others. The answers get built from sources in that language. With German-only content you exist in an English answer only through portals, if at all.
The third point affects every accommodation business: booking portals feature heavily in AI answers, because they supply structured data in volume. The task is being named alongside them as your own business.
Typical starting points
Well booked, but through other people's channels. The goal is a direct mention with your own site as the source.
Many businesses, one umbrella brand. What counts is whether the region is described cleanly as an entity.
Opening hours, availability, location. Questions run as “where can I get X in Salzburg today”.
Less visible than tourism, and with correspondingly less competition inside the answers.
